Buttermilk Biscuits
2 cups white flour
1 tbsp baking powder
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp hard butter
1 egg
3 tbsp sour cream
1 cup buttermilk ( or a tbsp of vinegar in a cup of milk)
Mix the dry ingredients together. Use your hands to incorporate the butter into the flour mixture. Add everything else. I always add just a bit more flour until things aren’t quite so sticky. Turn out onto a floured counter. Roll out with your hands to your preferred thickness. I use a glass water cup to cut my biscuits out. Bake at 350 *C for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
While biscuits are still warm from the oven, smother with butter (only the real stuff please) and douse with honey. Although this recipe has no honey in the ingredients, they are never eaten without honey at the Epp house, therefore, the biscuits make the honey recipe cut!!
